Live to Love Mexico

A good day for everyoneThis past July 31st, Live to Love volunteers shared their help and enthusiasm with members of the Foundation for the Assistance to Disabled (F.A.D.I.) during a visit organized by L2L to the exhibit “Footprints from the Past” in Mexico City’s main square. Together with the city’s public safety personnel, Live to Love volunteers helped the group from F.A.D.I. to come down with their wheelchairs from the vehicles, afterwards we took them on the tour, which they enjoyed very much as there are few occasions in which they get to go to exhibits due to lack of adequate facilities for people with disabilities. At the end of the tour through the exhibit, the members of the Foundation ate a delicious lunch courtesy of Live to Love.

Tahiti, November 2009 : releasing fishes at Rangiroa

1 French PolynesiaWe went to Rangiroa, an atoll of the archipel of Tuamotu in the French Polynesia. We wished to try to free fishes, but we really did not know how to proceed with this project.

On these atolls, the soil is of coral: no vegetables or fruits grow on it, except for coconut trees and some rare banana trees. The fish is the basic food. Behind the beautifull curtain of flowers, colours and smells, there is also misery, not enough job, big isolation and lack of anything to do.

Live to Love, Singapore, 15th November 2009

Singapore L2L Nov09_Page_1_Image_0001We went to Bo Tien Home for the Aged for our November Live to Love activity, to have tea with the uncles and aunties and spend time with them. The home currently takes care of 20 old folks, comprising of both Chinese and Indians. We brought with us some drinks and pastries, some of which were home-made.

It was a sunny afternoon, which can be rare during this time of the year as we get more rains towards the end of the year. A group of about 17 of us gathered at the home around tea time, waiting eagerly for the uncles and aunties to come down from their rooms.
We helped the nurses distribute the food and drinks to them. We chit chatted with the uncles and aunties. Most of them do not have a family in Singapore as they came to Singapore to work many years ago.

On Sunday 15th November, a group from Drukpa UK visited the homeless near Victoria station, in a place we have visited before.
Members of the UK group and other friends had kindly donated many warm clothes – jackets, sweaters, bedding, sleeping bags etc. Two cars were needed to transport them all. Some members of the group asked the homeless people what they needed most and then distributed the clothing and bedding while others bought them hot tea and coffee.
