This morning it was raining really heavily. The weather forecast was for “heavy rain”. The plan had been to have a group from the local community, a group from the probation services and some people from the Live to Love group in London & Kent come down and do some woodland clearance – we’ve been working toward this date for a few weeks, since the parish councillor organised a big refuse truck supplied by Kent County Council’s “Clean Kent Campaign” to come and take away the rubbish we collect.
The probation services team had to cancel, but will be along next weekend. We were due to start at 10:30, so at 09:30 I went out and took a good soaking to see if we should go ahead, together with the councillor, Shirley. We decided to cancel. I phoned up the Live to Love people and told them it was postponed to next week. We were hesitant, thinking “What if the rain stops” but decided it was best to be cautious. We visited a small old folk homes run by a local Buddhist Temple in Air Itam, Penang. Master Jing Heng who is the head of the temple explained to us that besides providing the home, the temple is also actively involved in the following charitable activities:-
- free cooked meals during breakfast, lunch and dinner at their premises
- providing free dry food and some basic ingredients for those in needs
- supporting financially the livelihood of extremely poor families (currently 8 families are under their care) Continue reading ‘LIVE TO LOVE – Visiting A Temple With Charitable Activities In Mind 18 Jan 2009′
Exactly one year ago I started with Live to Love first in an old people home, which was for a single person quite difficult because of old and unflexibel habbits. To create a friendly and ease atmosphere was quite impossble for me. The openhearted leader of the home has been kicked out recently.
After many telephonecalls to check were we can help we found the animal home by bringing them a donation of food. Asking wether we can help them every third sunday they were very delight about that idea. This was the place where we could involve our daughter Tara too, cause she is loving animals very much. We have been around ten times there, now knowing every cat, dog, rabbit, birds…
The walks with the one or other dog at the end of the working-day we found very pleasent and I think the dogs too. Also getting the news from time to time that some animals could find a new, warmhearted home. ( Meanwhile I am also a kind of superwiser visiting these animals to see whether they have a good life now)
But also collecting all the blankets and bedsheets from unknown people for the home was very satisfying. Also sending the parcels between the Hamburg Sangha and us with financial donation or toys for the cats, blankets and clothes for the homeless created a feeling of being connected with them specially, but with all the other sanghamembers around the world too. Whenever I wake up on the third sunday I am thinking of my brothers and sisters around the world who are because of the change of time already being busy with Live to Love.
This December, Live to Love Wroclaw gathered little and big parcels with food, candy, clothes, and cosmetics to be given to homeless persons. A group of five of as came to the railway station. Yet it came up that there are really few homeless people in the railway station that day. We handed there three or four parcels, which were very effusively received, yet then we stood with our baggage and wandered, whom to give it. Continue reading ‘LIVE TO LOVE CHRISTMAS ACTION’
