Live To Love Drukpa Plouray – 24th August 2008

This month the activity of Drukpa Plouray had to be postponed of one week. This time, we went to the coast for an environmental activity. As the summer was coming to its end, we thought it was a good idea to go on the beachs and collect the litter.

We were not many people but still we were able to collect a lot of litter (7 full bags). As usual, we were very motivated and happy to meet for our activity. We were amused as, once again, it was raining when we started the activity and progressively the sun appeared and we finally had a very beautiful afternoon.

LIVE TO LOVE – Drukpa Penang Jul 2008 A Visit To Silver Jubilee Home For The Aged

This month we followed-up with a case in Jan 2008 where we visited Mr. K Harinam, used to be a renowned cultural dancer, who was suffering from kidney failure and heart problem.

Unfortunately, prior to the visit, we found out that he had passed away last month. Thus we visited the family and the mum told us that he slipped and fell fracturing his hip and was admitted to hospital. Upon being told by his doctors that even after having an operation, it was uncertain whether he could be able to walk again, that perhaps was too much of a shock to him and he passed away during that night.

Live to Love in Black Forest 17th August 2008

Coming from Plouray the night before very inspired cause of the visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and H.E. Chogoen Tenzin Chokyi Gyatso Tara and me went to our animal home next morning. This time we were like the first time responsible for the smallest animals there, the hamsters, birds, chinchillas. August in London

Following last months 3rd Sunday, the “team” felt very enthusiastic about going more often to the hospital ward that we have been visiting. This was for three reasons, first being that the actual act of going is beneficial to all concerned, second reason being that Sunday is the day that if people do get visitors, it is going to be on a Sunday, so our efforts would be more useful on another day in the week. Finally, some of our group find it difficult to come along on a weekend.

So on the 30th of July we went for an evening mid-week visit which went very well, as different people could come to those that come on a Sunday. Going at a different time of day to the “usual” visit meant that some of the patients were receiving medication or food, and this made the experience more intense in some ways – the Sunday visits are during quite a relaxed period of the day.

Again on Sunday 17th we went along, but this time the ward was unusually quiet, lots of empty beds with those that were occupied not really wanting visitors. So we went home, but will be back for another mid-week visit in a short time, since we would like to keep up to the 2 visits per month.

Live to Love – August in Hamburg

As every third Sunday in the past months,
we also came together today
for a collective Tara-practice,
before we practized Live to Love.

The sense & the meaning of the gathering
in Live to Love
leads more and more to
becomes a celebration
and
the by now familiar regularity
brings a very beautiful quality of depths to the connections.

Sunny Greetings from Germany

17th august 2008-

On this live to love day i just went to a near by nursing house for old people and said i would love to give company or anything else what is need, to somebody who is alone and does not get attendance.
First it was not easy at all to get in. Here in Germany we have so many regulations due to insurance and other policy and procedures. I should write an application, I was told.
I must have looked so determined, that the receptionist said, she would call an old lady, who had asked her for help with her new electric wheelchair.
We met each other and she invited me to her room and showed me around. She has a hard time to move. Since 5 years she stays in this home and only few people had visited her. After this introducing talk she showed me her “electric scooter” in metallic red. never has she driven a car, but felt so captured in this house that she decided to get this electric vehicle.
But now she is so scared to drive alone in the streets. Oonly in the courtyard she has practiced yet. I think she felt comfortable with me because she asked me to attend her with the “red scooter” to the city.
It was such a wonderful experience for me to feel and see her excitement in this next step to realize her dream.

Today I spent the morning in an old people’s home…

Today I spent the morning in an old people’s home, where I had been before a few times. These elderly people need to be cared for because most of them have dementia or Alzheimer disease. Some can’t remember their names or they often don’t even know where they are. So I took two ladies and one gentleman out into the courtyard to take some fresh air and some sunshine by the fish pond. They enjoyed this very much and showed it to me by their smiles, their loving hand squeezes or their warm thank you.
Many of them hardly ever get a chance to go outside even for a little while. Generally they are cared for very well by friendly staff. They even have some group activity like playing games and singing together provided for them. I think the three enjoyed this morning very much.
With some of the others on the ward I had some chit chats. They become so alive – waking up from their sleeping and dosing – when they feel that someone is there paying attention to them. I woke up from my own dosing too and felt my heart opening up… becoming more awake by being with these beautiful old people sharing my love with them.
