Live to Love - Drukpa Plouray May 2008

Dear all,

thank you so much for all the very beautiful messages sent on the L2love website. They are really inspiring.

The second activity of Drukpa Plouray was postponed of 1 week as the Nyung-nay retreat was not achieved by the 3rd sunday of May.
This time, we were more people (14 adults and 2 children) to meet in Quimper (Britanny - West part of France) and had the privilege of counting among us two nuns of the Centre : Ani Lhamo and Ani Drölma.
We bought the animals all together at the market. We got almost 17 kilos of winkles and a few spider crabs. We went to a beach nearby, made a practice advised by Drupbön Nawang before releasing them. We also spread some blessed liquids on them and recited mantras while putting them back into the sea. It was a very happy moment for all of us.
Some of us continued the afternoon and went for a picnic together. We thought that it was important to share and help each other more within the group.

May we be able to keep on practicing these beautiful Live to Love activities and open our hearts more and more to all sentient beings.

Your Holiness, we thank you from the depth of our hearts ! May you live long !!

Live to Love !

the dynamics of live to love: the courage to help

Dear all,

Here is a testimony to practice live to love:

at the beginning when His Holiness has spoken live to love, there were few altruistic activities in my life;

I really did not know what to do;
I prayed that situations arise to start the bodhicita relative;
One day it began:
I wore the “live to love” bag to wherever I went in the day,
there were situations where aid was welcome:
I was asked to make photocopies, then run an errand, finally to go visit a sick person to hospital several times;

It took lots of time time for several days, I was very happy because these situations have come through the blessing His Holiness;

A Garden Flower For Burma And China

The marigold- calendula officinalis in latin- is a humble and simple flower which grows in the garden and holds many virtues. It has many healing properties such as calming the mind, healing wounds and burns. This tiny orange or yellow flower is a soothing balm full of tenderness for the body and the mind.

So as to help victims from disasters in Burma and China, I request friends, relationship or Dharma brothers and sisters, to buy a marigold shoot for a minimum price (everyone can choose). Half of the benefit will go to local associations in Burma through France-Birmanie and half of it to Drukpa Humanitaire for China.

Unfortunately, it seems that I cannot organize this action on a bigger scale in the name of Live to Love because it is not an official association in Brittany or even in France, which makes it difficult legally to organize public fund-raising actions.
However, Live to Love is in my heart.

I therefore offer respectfully these marigold flowers to the Three Jewels, the Master, so as to relieve the body and mind of suffering beings.

Live To Love ~ Make A Difference Community Project

On the 18 May, I am glad that my fellow nembers from our Pearl International Hotel have successfully organized a “ Live to Love ~ Make a Difference “ community project.

At about 11.30am, upon the announcement of the emcees, everyone rose to their feet to dedicate one minute of silence in respect of the victims from the Sichuan disaster. Then, as the blanket of compassion slowly unfolds, I represented the Hotel to give a welcome speech.

Themed with ”Live to Love ~ Make A Difference”, this project is aimed to create the awareness and to nurture the three important values in today’s society – Share, Care & Love. With the blood donation drive as the main highlight, we also arranged a string of activities to make the project more exciting by having free health tests and analysis, such as foot scan / skeletal balancing analysis, bone density ultrasound scan etc, Aikido demonstration and self defense workshop and pledged organ donation. We are lucky to have various partners to put this event a success.

Live to Love from Oregon May 2008

It is so uplifting to read about all the efforts around the globe to help other beings and our planet. Thank you to our beloved Master for encouraging us in this way. My own efforts are more one on one, as I wrote you all once before, with an organization called Hospice, to help people ( and their families) as they move into the dying process and until it is finished.

Right now I am sitting with a woman, 89, who is getting ready to pass.

Hospice provides medication so that the person is relatively free of pain and is also relatively comfortable. As you can imagine it is a great teaching for those of us who volunteer, as we support people as they leave this body behind.

Third Session for London Gardening group

Some of the sangha gathered again on May 10 to continue one of London’s Live to Love projects - creating a beautiful garden and tranquil space at a daycentre for people with dementia.

The activities that take place in the daycentre, including the use of the garden, allows the attendees to have some time outside of their homes to be with others. The garden is now looking very colourful as spring turns into summer and gives the residents different areas of interest and beauty. The sangha members really enjoyed being in the garden and working together to create a space for others to enjoy.

An encounter with a London tramp

On my way to give my painting class this evening my car developed a puncture. As there did not seem to be any equipment in the car to remedy the situation I telephoned the AA breakdown service to help me out. While waiting for them to arrive I spotted a tramp approaching. Before I could ask him if he was alright he asked me if I needed any help! We then got chatting and it turned out that he came from my hometown - Sydney in Australia. He said “your probably wondering why I’m walking with difficulty”, he then went on to explain how a week earlier he was sleeping in the bushes when he was attacked by a group of youths and was kicked around quite badly; he pointed to some bushes by the side of the road, saying that this was were he sleeps.
