Live to Love - Drukpa México

Live to Love - Mexico

First of all, we want to thank His Holiness for the wonderful idea of “Live to Love”, as always: He is our number one “Messenger of Love”. It seems that just the thought of helping other people, has had the power to re-unite our sangha members in an enthusiastic rush of ideas, gatherings, discussions, tears and laughter.

After getting together twice for the careful reading of His Holiness “Live to Love” campaign, and having evaluated carefully the 5 categories for helping others, we voted for a combination of 3 of them, realizing that it´s better to focus on something specific rather than trying to do a lot.

Of course living in a country like Mexico, help is endless! So narrowing our efforts to very specific categories was not an easy task. Most of us in some way or another, have already been doing charity work due to the characteristics of our country, and this has made us realize that the only way we can have 1000 arms like Avalokiteshvara to help in this world, is by gathering 500 people to do the work!

We have added a new section on “Live to Love” to our webpage.

These are some of the agreements we made:

1. Relief and Aids:
In the month of November, the states of Tabasco and Chiapas have had the worst disaster in the history of our country due to flooding.
* Drukpa Mexico donated a considerable amount in money for food, clothing
and medicine for children who lost everything as well as for the homeless
animals.

2. Education and Medical help:
We decided that since the children of our country will make the future of it, we will concentrate our efforts on them by:
*Donating money for some scholarships for orphans as well as medical treatments.
*The 3rd Sunday of every month we will go to assigned orphanages to help in the cleaning, education in terms of health and hygiene, environment preservation and waste management, as well as sharing human contact with these orphan children.

3. Environment:
* We have offered our help to different institutions who already have ongoing
programs for environment preservation and waste management.

For all of the above, Drukpa Mexico knows that the best and most efficient way of helping is by uniting our efforts with institutions who are already organized and have steady programs. For this, we are in the process of elaborating a very nice written and audio/visual presentation of “Live to Love”, what it means, where it came from and what we can offer.

Continuing with the idea of educating our children, Drukpa Mexico is involving our own sons and daughters in “Live to Love”, and in helping out at least every 3rd Sunday of the month. For this, we are also trying with one of the best private Universities in Mexico, to include a program for their students to go abroad, maybe India for doing social work in the summers, and this would be taken into account as a special subject.

Knowing that Live to Love is all of us,
That Live to Love is a state of being,
Dearest Holiness: Drukpa Mexico also…
