A small, cheerfull group of „Live-to-love“-Inspired-Ones, we were eleven, meeting at the Main station in a typical Hamburg rainy weather, subtle but penetrating. We were carrying baskets, bags and pouches full of titbits, like hot lentilsoup, sandwiches, little paperbags full of delicacys, homemade cherrycake, juice, water, coffee, coke, chocolates, cookies …
Our target was to find homeless people, hiding somewhere from the unfriendly, cold weather. It was not that easy to find them, due to the authorities wanting them to be outside the city to keep the city clean and tidy.
Behind the station a young prostitute happily received cake and coffee, and loved to choose some chocolate. She was beaming towards us, a little amazed about our good wishes for her.
At the station then we found a little troupe, standing together fairly calm, enjoying first of all the hot soup, then also coffee, juices and water, bread, bananas, cake.
In the beginning they couldn‘t quite understand, that we were looking for them, but thawed then more and more. It felt important here to sense how to speak to them, to ask them appropriately for their needs,
instead of just stumbling into their space of dignity. So we started talking, making jokes and finally sharing funny poems with each others:
Animated through their gratefullness, their caring attitude towards each other and the humor we shared together, we continued our walk.
Quite touching was to meet this man in his wheelchair, in the middle of the stations bustle. He seemed quite helpless through strong body- and seemingly also mental impairments. He just could sit in a very crooked position. Ilka listened from depth of her heart to his confused and faint stories. He got a lot of goodies and also homeopathic medicine.
Taking out his purse with a lot of trouble, we realized: a little money was also very usefull for him.
Is he able to defend himself in the streets ? came to my mind.
But obviously there are kind of selforganized networks among them, to support each other. We also could notice this manner by watching their caring behaviour towards each other. They were looking, that everybody got something, and we couldn‘t notice greediness, jealousy or pushing each other.
Also some streetmusicians, playing in the cold weather, only foreigners, who hardly could understand any german, enjoyed the coffee and cake:
Hans-Guenter, an old friend of mine, who just was visiting me, joined in and mentioned the next day: „ I got the feeling that in fact we made ourselves happy“.
He is so right: here our deep connection amongst each other expresses itself.
And also the certainty, everywhere in this world, Malaysia, Taiwan, Mexico, Peru, France, Poland, etc., and spread over everywhere in Germany, the „Live-to-love-messengers“ are on their mission today, made me quite inspired.
My world, my understanding towards each other, enriched so much through these experiences and my horizon became much wider. So I am deeply gratefull to His Holiness for this strong impulse: this
live-to-love-movement. Compassion is understanding as His Holiness always says. Now we can develop through these experiences. What a precious gift. Thank you so much.
Jigme Yoenten and the deeply happy Hamburg-Sangha, with some Newcomers, some of them just took Refuge in Hofheim. The wonderful pictures were taken by Jigme Rigdzin Doelma (Agnes).
What a great report. So good to see a strong commitment to do the activity, and the organisation to do it together. Amazing
This is very inspirational to me.
I have tears in my eyes. It is such a wonderful treat to one’s spiritual path. Thank you all, Drukpa Hamburg members. We hope your Live to Love group will spread the message of love and transform this world into a world of peace and kindness. Thank you so much for making us feel that our presence is meaningful and beneficial for others!
Such inspirational, sincere efforts of compassion, which touch very deeply. It urges me, and others I am sure, to go from the thought of compassion to the act of compassion. Thank you for sharing, and showing, these immeasurably valuable activities…
I send my most sincere thanks to the sangha in Hamburg, for giving all of us such a great and inspiring example of genuine loving kindness. May we be of benefit to other beings, just as His Holiness has taught us, and may we all live to love, until the whole of samsara is empty.
very nice!
greetings!
